UJIMA African American Youth Initiative
The UJIMA African American Youth Initiative is a culturally-based tobacco control advocacy and empowerment program for youth. 100% Smoke-Free Schools Updates
Students all over the state have been circulating petitions and meeting with their principals and school boards to develop 24/7, 100% tobacco-free schools. A ?Y student from Pender County was able to get a new policy passed. A group of teens in Graham County was able to get their schools a step closer to being 100% tobacco-free. Alamance County advocates supported their schools´ new ordinance by purchasing ads in the football programs reminding spectators to keep their stadium tobacco-free.

Just Say N-O-T
The American Lung Association has developed and tested N-O-T (Not On Tobacco), a smoking cessation program for teens that really works! The American Lung Association of N.C., the NC Tobacco Prevention and Control Branch, and the N.C. Department of Public Instruction are conducting trainings NOW so that schools can have N-O-T facilitators to help teens quit smoking.
